ABOUT THE CLIENT
Client had previously renovated certain areas of the home themselves. However, they felt it lacked the elevated design style they were after. Busy working mom of 2 needed a space she could call her own. Spending tons of time in the laundry room we turned it into a safe haven for her wine storage, folding, sorting, and washing needs. She was looking for full service design and remodel project management so that she could sit back and relax while we handled bringing her vision and wish list to life.
PROJECT GOALS
Moody and elevated! Cozy and calming. A place for her to enjoy herself and get things done around the house.
AKL’S APPROACH
We really wanted to bring Jill’s vision to life in every single way. They had minimal storage before so we added multiple countertop storage cabinets. One of which was an appliance garage for her countertop appliances she doesn’t use everyday. Since the space was small and intimate we needed to balance natural light and maintain the cozy vibe she wanted. So we opted for darker paint, a larger new window, and cabinets with glass fronts to reflect the light when her roman shade isn’t closed. We loved the idea of a deep apron sink for cleaning all the kids messy clothes and sports items.

We originally planned to contract AKL just for the design phase; however, after meeting Shannon (interior designer) and Ashley (owner) and dipping our toes into the relationship, we decided to dive right in and contracted from design to finish (and, we are so thrilled we did!). Shannon is their lead designer and simply amazing! She is so fun and we loved partnering with her to bring our vision to life. She brought fresh, innovative ideas to elevate our vision well beyond what we could have imagined. This was our first experience using a designer and we appreciated Shannon always bringing plenty of options and suggestions to the mix allowing us to feel as though we were part of the process. Her thoughtful approach to balance aesthetics and functionality with our lifestyle ensured our laundry room would be relevant for many years to come. She blew us away with her design and when we saw the final reveal I cried - she is incredible! I just couldn’t believe our ugly, old laundry room could have transformed into such a beautiful and functional space. Dave is the "project guy" and managed phase 2 - the construction/installation phase. Dave was a gem to work with as he coordinated & participated in all the contract work and ensured every element in our laundry room was to the highest standard and aligned to Shannon's vision. Hardworking, professional, personable, prompt and perfectionist are a few of the words that come to mind to describe Dave. We've had much variability in quality and experiences with prior contractors - this round, all positive. Just seamless. In conclusion, AKL delivered an outcome above and beyond our expectations and I cannot recommend them more highly! We are already on to our next project with their team :)
