Mood Board
There’s nothing like a full gut-it-and-start-over garage project. It brings all the best of AKL together: Organization, design, and construction. When we started the planning portion of this project, we knew that we needed to consider and study the beautiful exterior of our clients’ home. The garage interior should always flow seamlessly with the exterior. Inspired by the grand ironwork and light taupe colors, we knew we needed to go in a classic and timeless direction. The overall mood board incorporated a lot of creams and taupes, black and iron accents, and high-end stone countertops.
Project Highlights
The scale of this garage was HUGE! We needed to add cabinetry that matched the grandness of the space, without going overboard so that everything could still be accessible. We completely customized the cabinet layout, specifications, and functionality based on our clients’ needs and items to be stored, including skis and golf gear. We also used the right hand side of the garage to maximize ceiling height and create a cozy storage bench for our clients’ seven grandkids to drop their stuff when they came over to play.
The retractable tesla chargers were a huge hit. We’ve worked with multiple Tesla clients in the past and the first thing we always notice is the charger lying on the floor in a messy heap. Our goal: to create a concealed AND easy-to-access cabinet for a retractable charger. A couple more highlights to call out: We created seasonal his-and-hers hanging storage (with chic black hangers, of course) and customized a new sink area with more counter space. But enough about what we think of our work.

What were your garage goals?
Our main goal was to completely change how we use our garage. We wanted to add storage space, make the space we had more usable, organize all of our sports equipment and bikes, and update the look of the whole space.
What was the experience like working with AKL?
Our experience working with Ashley and her team has been amazing! From start to finish, they are all extremely professional. AKL and team really listen to what the client wants, while giving great input on design, function and livability. They give accurate timelines and stick to them (really)!
What do you think of the final result?
We love it! Everything has its place and it’s been easy keeping it up. Every time I pull in my garage, it puts a smile on my face.
