We remodeled, designed, and furnished this entire home. Everything in this house was touched by the AKL team. The remodel included the kitchen, dining, entry, hallway, hallway bathroom, home office, bedroom, primary bedroom, primary bathroom, and laundry room.
ABOUT THE CLIENT
Our clients, empty nesters who downsized from their 1-acre property, desired more quality time together and less maintenance. Both working full-time and hosting their grandchildren frequently, they desired a spacious main room for family gatherings.
PROJECT GOALS
The main goal of this project was to address the lack of storage space in the home, particularly after the removal of the entryway closet for bathroom expansion. The homeowners also desired a modern and simple design aesthetic, they didn’t want anything trendy or bright colored. Additionally, creating a more open floor plan was crucial.
AKL’S APPROACH
With the smaller space than they were used to we needed to find a way to build in and give them more storage space. By adding custom closets to every single room we were able to give them more storage solutions than previously left in the house prior to the remodel. We also removed the entryway closet to give more space to their primary bathroom so adding back storage was imperative. To achieve the modern and simple design vision, we opted for neutral materials and incorporated warmth through custom cabinetry and furnishings.
There was a large wall closing off the main living space from the kitchen, dining room, and living room. We took that down and opened the whole thing up. We also raised the sunken living room so that our floor plan could seamlessly flow for their entertainment needs. Plus, the grandkids are much safer without a ledge. New LVT, tile, sheetrock, and custom breakfast nook were only a few of the amazing features of this full house remodel.
