Design Inspiration: Walls That Wow

We love a wall moment. A stunning wallpaper, the perfect paint color. It’s all about creating a palette that works together. Lighter combinations tend to make a space feel bigger; darker contrasts give the room a modern, moody vibe. Here are a few quick tips from the AKL team to help you create your own walls that wow.

  1. When considering wallpaper, think about the location. For example, bathrooms call for vinyl paper because of all the moisture. Vinyl is also good for kids’ spaces because it’s easy to clean.

  2. Samples are your design friend. Both for paint and wallpaper. Be sure to download a tear sheet to see the full pattern of the wallpaper.

  3. Round up when ordering wallpaper. It’s always better to have more on hand than to have one section to go and you’re short one roll.

  4. Murals are an easy way to give a room an instant refresh with minimal effort. Best not to use them on a wall with doors and windows, though.

  5. Love texture? Grasscloth and flocked wallpapers are beautiful. And, you want to limit them to low-traffic areas as they require more maintenance.

Now onto the moodboards!
